Yet another safety achievement in Denizli, Turkey

Shanahan Engineering is delighted to recognise the great achievement of 4 million LTI free man-hours at the Denizli Power Project in Turkey as of the 17th February 2013.

This achievement is testament to everyone involved and their continued dedication and commitment to working safely. It also represents Shanahan Engineering’s awareness and use of best practice guidelines and has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring compliance to regulations and providing a safe environment for its employees and clients at all times.

Upon reaching this milestone, Richard Steed, senior engineer at Shanahan Engineering said

‘I felt very proud of our team, and would take this opportunity to say thank you to the team here on site past and present, as well as the support that we receive from the home office, without all of you this would never have come about.’

One of key drivers for the team in Denizli to achieve this feat is their prolonged ability to build upon Shanahan Engineering’s core values: Safety and Assurance, Relationships, Social Responsibility, People, Innovation, Financial Responsibility and Integrity. It is because of these values and the dedication of its staff that Shanahan Engineering can describe itself as a world class construction and technical field service provider, which has operated successfully in the power and industrial sectors for over thirty years.

Shanahan Engineering would like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate all members of the team on this achievement and also to remind all staff of the constant effort and importance to keep yourself and each other safe by adhering to the best safety practices at all times in the workplace. Only by doing this together will a zero accidents and incidents report be achieved on completion of the Denizli project.

About the Denizli Power Project

The Denizli project is a joint venture of RWE and TURCAS to construct and operate a 775 MW gas-fired combined-cycle power plant. This state-of-the-art CCGT power plant, with an efficiency rate of over 55 percent, will make a significant contribution to security of electricity supply in Turkey.

Shanahan Engineering’s first involvement with the project in April 2011 was to support the management of the safety function on site. Our role further developed to take over the full management of the HSE department and included rigging and scaffolding supervision and co-ordination of the LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) programme.

In October 2012 the Denizli Power Project achieved First Fire, there was over one thousand five hundred working on the project at the time.
