  • [-] James Greaney - Chief Executive Officer
    Greaney James BW

    With a BE in Civil Engineering from University College Galway, Ireland, James has over 22 years engineering and senior construction management experience, operating at the highest level in the power generation and construction industries.

    After graduating in 1991, James held various site roles (both in Ireland and internationally) at the energy organisation Kentz - KENCEM – in their division for Construction Engineering Management.

    He then joined Shanahan Engineering in 1995 as a lead site engineer for four simple cycle power projects in the United Arab Emirates, managing the civil works on all four plants from design through to handover. He rose quickly through the ranks, becoming global sales manager in 1997, overseeing Shanahan Engineering’s operations in Turkey, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, UK and other international locations, and in 2004 he was appointed as COO, responsible for the combined construction and maintenance business.

    Since June 2012 he has been CEO of Shanahan Engineering, and is delighted to be leading a business he is truly passionate about, one that he knows can make a real difference to peoples’ lives and the power industry.

  • [-] John Cullen - Chief Financial Officer

    With both a BComm and Masters in Accounting from UCD, John Cullen has over 27 years’ experience in a diversity of roles relating to the chemical distribution, construction, engineering and software industries.

    To date John has amassed extensive commercial experience, working with both owners and medium-sized companies, having worked as financial controller for CJ O’ Shea Construction, and as financial director for Ellis & Everard (Chemical Distribution). He has significant experience in closing financial sales and was also a key member of the team in the trade sale of Shanahan Engineering to the Wood Group.

    Appointed as CFO for the Wood Group E & PS  in 2010, having previously been financial director since 2003, John brings all of this experience to bear on the commercial aspects of Shanahan Engineering’s projects. Amongst his objectives for Shanahan Engineering is the development of a sustainable and growing business with the right economies of scale, as well as a determined focus on business ethics and compliance.

  • [-] Kevin McCarthy - VP Global Sales
    Kevin MccCarthy BW

    With an Honours Degree in Business Management from the University of Limerick, specialising in Accounting and IT, Kevin McCarthy joined Merrill Lynch International Investment Bank to work as a trader. He led a team that worked on new bond launches and resolved issues with clients and prospective investors.

    Joining Shanahan Engineering as a project manager for the maintenance division in 2009, Kevin developed new business for the division and project managed SEL shutdowns across the UK and Ireland. In 2011 Kevin worked as a project manager with SEL’s construction division in South Africa, as part of the leadership team that brought the hydro test to Boiler 6 in Medupi - a first for Shanahan Engineering. 

    Kevin returned to Dublin in 2013 and was appointed as operations director for the Eastern Hemisphere. As an operations director Kevin has P&L responsibility as well as managing the regional team. He will oversee new business development opportunities and develop strategies to meet profit goals within the EH region.

     

  • [-] Gerard McInerney - VP Global TFS - OTR

    Since joining Shanahan Engineering in 1996 as a project engineer on a MHI CCGT power plant in the Netherlands, Ger has been deployed on numerous assignments globally with Shanahan Engineering, in a variety of different roles such as, project Engineer, claims & contracts management, LTSA site management, defect liability period /warranty engineer, construction management, construction coordination and plant commissioning.

     With both a BEng (honors) degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master degree in Construction Project Management, Ger McInerney has over 20 years of experience in the Power Generation Industry.

     In 2015 Ger joined the Company’s Head Office team and assumed the role of Global TFS Manager. Ger is responsible for the Company’s Global Field Service business to ensure that both customer and contractual specific requirements are met through the selection and effective deployment of our technical field staff globally. Ger is delighted to be part of this growing business and the challenges it brings as the Company expands globally. 

  • [-] Liam Pitcher - Commissioning Services Director

    Liam has 30 years’ experience working in the field of large Power Plant Project Delivery with an emphasis on the Construction and Commissioning phases. He gained a BAI & BA in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering from Trinity College Dublin.

    Following his graduation in 1987, Liam worked with a large Alumina Refinery in Ireland before leaving to join General Electric’s Global Field Services Division based out of New York, USA, where he worked as a Senior Field Engineer for 10 years primarily on Combined Cycle Power Plants in the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He then spent 10 more years as a Commissioning and Project Manager working globally for EPC contractors, with particular focus on the establishment and integration of process based management systems within the project work-flows.

    Since 2006, he has been part of the Shanahan Engineering management team and most recently as Director of Commissioning & Project Services, where he continues to apply his process driven management approach to the company as it grows it’s business globally.

  • [-] Conor Moran - Consultancy Services OTR

    With an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin, Conor has over 15 years construction management and power generation experience, both in Ireland and internationally. After graduating in 2000, he began his career with BOC Gases before moving into the Power Generation industry as a Mechanical Engineer on the construction of one of Irelands first Independent Power Plants at Tynagh Energy. 

    Conor joined Shanahan Engineering as a scheduler on the Hunstown CCGT project in 2005, progressing onto the role of Mechanical Works Manager on the same project. Having spent some time working in the domestic construction industry, he then re-joined Shanahan Engineering in 2012 as Mechanical Works Manager for the Dorad 800MW CCGT project in Israel, managing the mechanical construction contracts on the project. In 2014 he returned to head office where he was responsible for the companies bid process and for providing engineering support to on-going international construction & commissioning projects.

    In November 2015 Shanahan Engineering appointed him as Consultancy Services Manager (OTR) with responsibility for the companies growing Consultancy Services division. In this role he is tasked with owning the Consultancy Services Order to Remittance process and successfully managing the activities associated with the delivery of the customer specific contractual requirements.

  • [-] David Bell - H.S.S.E. Director
    David Bell bw2

    David has over 30 years of experience in power plant installation and commissioning, as well as design and project management.  David studied mechanical engineering at Glasgow College of Technology, following a graduate training programme with John Brown Engineering (Gas Turbines) Ltd in Scotland (JBE).  He started in the customer services division of JBE, where he worked on numerous overseas power plant installation and commissioning projects, in positions ranging from trainee field engineer to resident engineer/station manager. He moved for a time to a design office at Weir Pump Ltd before returning to JBE as project design manager.

    David joined Shanahan Engineering in 1998 and in over 15 years with the company has, at some point, headed up each of the three service divisions: construction, maintenance and technical field services.  David has spear-headed the QA and HSE responsibility for the company for over a decade, and has led the company into achieving certification in ISO9001:2008 ( In 2005) ASME Stamps A, PP & R (In 2010) and finally OHSAS 18001 (In 2013).   David has the added responsibility of leading SEL’s delivery of the WG GTS Service Excellence programme.

  • [-] Iain Salley - Contracts Director
    Iain Salley BW

    Iain has over 30 years’ experience working in the fields of commercial & project management, contract administration, and bid management. He gained a BSc in Surveying from Trinity College Dublin in addition to his diploma in construction economics from Bolton Street.

    Iain has wide experience in the construction sector reflected in his position as director for a construction & consultancy group for over 10 years, managing the business and operating under varying forms of contract. He also has extensive experience of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) having worked as development director in that arena, and this was reflected in his appointment as Chair of the Project Finance (PPP) Group – at the Irish Business & Employers Federation (IBEC).

    In 2012 Shanahan Engineering appointed him as contracts director, with responsibility for global commercial management of all projects, proposals and bid management, as well as corporate compliance and administration. In this role he is tasked with establishing consistent commercial procedures for all projects, instilling a culture of commercial awareness amongst all project staff, the day-to-day management of the commercial department, as well as the establishment of a dedicated team and structure for proposals and bid management

     

  • [-] Eugene McEntegart - Quality and Service Excellence Manager
    Eugene McEntegart bw3

    With a BSc Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Trinity College Dublin, Eugene is currently completing a master’s degree in Strategic Quality Management at the University of Limerick with a focus on Lean and Six Sigma Systems.   He has worked for more than 28 years in the Mechanical Engineering field in both the Oil & Gas and Aerospace sectors. 

    After graduating in 1986, Eugene began his career with Cameron Oil Tool as a quality and materials engineer in their valve and actuator division. Working with international standards such as ASME IX and API Q1, he developed approved welding procedures, material specifications and protective coating and test procedures for surface and subsea equipment. 

    He joined Pratt & Whitney in 1991 as a senior engineer in their Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul division where he worked on the design and development of new repairs for gas turbine engines using advanced processes such as electron beam welding and plasma spraying. In 2007 he took on the role of Quality Assurance Manager with Pratt & Whitney and was heavily involved in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and Service Excellence through their ACE (Achieving Competitive Excellence) program. He worked closely with the European, American and Chinese airworthiness regulators to maintain the quality management system in compliance with EASA, FAA and CAAC airworthiness regulations as well as the ISO9001:2008 standard.

    Eugene joined Shanahan Engineering in September 2015 as Quality and Service Excellence Manager and is delighted to be part of the transformational changes we are implementing in order to deliver superior quality and service to our customers worldwide.

  • [-] Paul Bauress - Global Sourcing Director

    Paul has over 30 years’ experience in the power industry. Has spent 10 years on new power project sites in the Middle East and Africa and 20 years in project support and general management. Has worked with Original Equipment Manufacturers, EPC’s and Owners bringing contract, project and business management skills to their projects and contracts ensuring successful conclusions.Holding a Business degree and post graduate qualification from University College Dublin, Paul’s other experience includes Intel & Project Management Ireland, MF Kent, and ESL Cork on overseas projects in Tanzania.  Paul has also worked on projects with W501 gas turbines, W251, Frame 6, and Diesel Engine EPC contracts in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Abu Dhabi and Tanzania respectively.

    In 2016 Paul has been re-appointed as Global Sourcing Director with responsibility to manage the full life cycle of global sourcing and related development within the company. Develop and maintain internal and external relationships that facilitate acquiring the best available talent to align with business needs. Utilize proactive search methods in order to significantly increase the skillset with the aim of providing project support to Shanahan Engineering’s overseas projects.
