Completion of steam turbine reliability test at PP14 Power Plant

Shanahan Engineering are proud to have recently completed a steam turbine reliability test for one of the power blocks at PP14 Combined Cycle Power Plant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This successful operation is part of a larger commissioning services contract between Shanahan Engineering and our client Saudi Electric Company (SEC).

Prior to the test, the steam turbine had been running continuously for 30 days without any interruption or alarms recorded.

This milestone marks 5 years at the PP14 project where we have delivered our services in a safe manner both incident and injury free. This is a huge achievement for our Site Lead, Mutaz Abbu, and Project Manager, Ger McInerney, who have led the team for this hugely complex project.  

With a total capacity of 1800 MW, SEC’s combined cycle power plant consists of two power blocks. Each block contains three gas turbine generators, three heat recovery steam generators, one steam turbine generator, and one air cooled condenser (ACC). 

With the 6 GTG units in operation and STG-28 online, we have reached a maximum load record of 1540 MW.
